JOHN CHARLES THOMAS

THE HYMNS (1949)

Two hundred and thirty five hymns
sung by John Charles Thomas with
Ken Darby and the Kings Men with

Roy Urseth, organist, were produced

for radio distribution in 1949 - - the
first recoding date was Jan. 19th

These hymns were in radio format
with program introduction by JCT.

Then a lively opening hymn solo by

JCT, Then usually Ken Darby and the
Kings Men, an organ interlude by
Urseth, then an ensemble with every-
one, then a closing by JCT.

These are the only complete assembly of
these recordings available . . . .they were
stored by Thomas on wire recordings and
Given as part of his estate to the Peabody
Institute of Music, his alma mater.

These wire recordings were dubbed to
tape cassette especially for JCT’S
great nephew Dr. George R. Creegan,
and now released on Crest Cassettes.
A portion of the income from the tapes
will be donated to the Peabody Institute
