interpreter of the Art Song and Operatic baritone literature.
The selections range from the
Armourer’s Song from Robin Hood recorded in 1900 on an early 8”
Zonophone disc to an
unpublished aria from Benvenuto Cellini: De L’art Splendeur.
In between are outstanding
arias from Martha, Carmen, Pagliacci, Roi de Lahore,Trovatore, Magic
Flute and
Barber of Seville – 18 selections in all, expertly transferred from
originals in the collection

EMILIO
DE GOGORZA SINGS SPANISH SONGS
Emilio De Gogorza
was one of the earliest and most prolific of recording artists.
Although he
recorded in English and other languages, it was in the Spanish tongue that De
Gogorza excelled.
Crest presents selections from Victor recordings spanning the years 1903 through
1927 when the
artist was in his best form.
These Victor recordings are considered the best, technically speaking,
of all his recordings which graced Berliner, Columbia-Climax and cylinders for
various companies,
under many nomme du disques; Fernand, Goddard, Francisco, etc.
Included in this Crest collection
are such well-known songs as La Sevillana, La Tempestad, Clavelitos,
La Paloma, La Golondrina,
El Relicario and others.
